Wim Delvoye
Wim Delvoye’s exhibition features a variety of iconoclastic works by this Belgian artist. His introduction to Toronto audiences was the installation Cloaca at the Power Plant last year. Dan Cameron writes, “A recurring element in Delvoye’s art is the contradiction between civilization’s cerebral veneer and the tendency of the body to assert itself as a vehicle by which society can rediscover its earthier origins.” Delvoye’s Marble Floors photographs are meticulously arranged patterns of sandwich meats and salamis, created by a serious vegetarian with a sardonic sense of humour.
