Damage Done explores the many ways that artists
engage
with the fragility and vulnerability of
photographic materials,
from facilitating the breakdown of photographic
emulsion for
creative expression to deliberately damaging original
negatives to assert authorship and control. The
exhibition
includes the work of contemporary practitioners, both
emerging and established, along with photographers
from the
historical canon and assorted archival materials.
Presented in
conjunction with the release party for issue 11 of
Prefix Photo
magazine, the exhibition is supported by the
Canada Council
for the Arts and the Toronto Arts Council.
