Group Exhibition NXT.Message

NXT.Message brings together works by four
artists from New York and Toronto issuing from
the notion of the palimpsest. Collectively, the
images and objects of Cohen, Devereaux,
McCarney and Sourkes can be seen to offer
contemporary expressions of traditional Jewish
themes, reworked as they circulate through
secular environments. As Reade observes, “All
artistic gesture is a rewriting, even if the artwork
doesn’t preserve the notion of the sacred that is
embedded in the traditional palimpsest.”
