Spain and Japan in the 21st century

Spain’s cultural identity has been shaped by
hundreds of years of urbanization and it has
chosen to keep the remnants of its past. Japan,
essentially non-urban until the late 1800s, has
chosen to build modern buildings upon the ruins of
its cities. George S. Zimbel’s photographs reveal
the transition from past to present in both
countries.
