Steven James Brown Word Play

May 1–31,  2009

This photographic series is the result
of a two-year project, which involved
cutting individual words from works
of literature and then covering objects
that Brown felt related to the text
with his “word skins.” While printed
words have visual impact as aesthetic
shapes and forms, they also demand
our attention as we search for meaning
and understanding. Words and
photography are the language of
revolution and continue to impact how
we view and understand the world.
