James Storie Drunk On Aspiration

May 3–28,  2010

Around us is a life imagined more than lived, watched but not experienced. These images explore the loss and sadness of modern life; fast, active but also empty. Wonders hard to imagine are commonplace, magic is everywhere and yet, the truth does not exist, only fantasy. Is this the price we pay for the wonder that surrounds us?

As I photograph the world around me I am constantly feeling the headiness of admiration of, and aspiration to be one of the people who inhabit the places I photograph. My work attempts to capture that feeling, to recreate the headiness and the uncertainty of vision, what did we really see?
