Marie Heintzman Light Tapestry Series 1

Century-old architectural structures form the settings for the images in this exhibition. Heintzman documents the shafts of light that stream in through the cracks of barnboards or chapel doors. Manipulating the light shafts, she turns the interiors of these structures into pseudo camera obscuras by drawing exterior views indoors. Almost apparitional in nature, these images reveal the surrounding environs as slivers of recognizable landscape or as abstract kaleidoscopic designs.
