Jim Blomfield Shapes of Bryggen
May 1–31, 2012
Bryggen, a UNESCO heritage site, is an enclave of 300-year-old wooden buildings situated on the waterfront of Bergen, Norway. These buildings appear as a jumble of chaotic shapes, but together form a unified and coherent whole. To Blomfield, they are a metaphor for what Bryggen has been for centuries: a community of diverse people from many parts of the world working together to create a world-class trading centre.
