Group Exhibition Making Peace

Making Peace pays tribute to the people and organizations all over the planet who devote their time, energy, and resources to the cause of peace, and reveals how they have shaped and influenced the course of the 20th century. This outdoor exhibition presents 124 photographs spanning more than 100 years, and aims to educate viewers of all ages, especially young people, about the five key elements necessary for building “sustainable peace”: disarmament and nonviolence, conflict prevention and resolution, economic and social justice, human rights, law and democracy, and environment and sustainable development.

To date, Making Peace has been presented in 12 major cities including, Basel, Geneva, Ypres, Strasbourg, Sarajevo, Utrecht, and Stockholm. This is the exhibition’s first North American showing. Mr. Federico Mayor Zaragoza, president of the Foundation for a Culture of Peace and former director-general of UNESCO, notes that the exhibition honours “a century of peacemaking and a wide range of peacemakers across the globe. At the same time, it serves as a call to action for ordinary citizens to become involved in peace activities of all kinds, and in so doing to promote a global culture of peace.”
