Tanya Louise Workman Allergic to Lilacs

Allergic to Lilacs is an installation of photographs and audio that explores what happens when you turn the lens on yourself. What does it mean to be seen and heard? What is silenced by perception? While most of the pictures were made during a “personal story” workshop, the voice recordings came later as Workman began to question what her images—including her self-portrait Whole/Born This Way—really communicate to others and herself.
