Chloé Beaulac Mirrored Windows

May 1–31,  2022

In Mirrored Windows, the photographic work of Chloé Beaulac is elaborated by the art of staging. The model is at the heart of the artwork where the chosen spaces and objects interact together. The atmosphere is created in the spirit of the tableau vivant. The chosen exterior settings are private spaces of historical connotations discovered during her various explorations. The objects used in this theater of the imaginary are decorative or utilitarian objects belonging to these places. Curtains, busts, sculptures, clocks, swords, mirrors, blankets, utilitarian furniture are used to animate the space. The place and the objects are representative of the environment and are activated by the model. The model plays with various mirrors, allowing us to transpose and embody his role, thus allowing our participation in this theater play.

“Everything we see hides another thing. We always want to see what is hidden by what we see.”
― René Magritte
