Kim-Lee Kho Burnt Offerings

May 4–21,  2022

In this examination of grief, love, and loss, multidisciplinary artist Kim-Lee Kho draws on the recent loss of her father, our ongoing pandemic conditions, and the Chinese part of her heritage.

Who or what have we lost? How do we mourn? Is life the smoke and flame before the ashes?

Incorporating: photographic images of fire; drawings produced by heat and flame; photo-based self-portraits that personalize the experience of grief and mourning while also contemplating ephemerality; and photo-based sculpture that draws on a Chinese practice of burning “joss paper” offerings for the dead; and more.
