Margaret Gdyczynski Coffee Confession Continued

May 1–Jun 30,  2022

Margaret Gdyczynski has been exploring historical structures, the evolution of new builds, and the details that often trigger memories and personal associations. The memories sparked in public spaces are not always parallel to what has occurred in the space, but are often tangential smells, feelings, or events. It’s this overlapping recollection of events that the artist explores visually in her photographs.

Gdyczynski’s digital composite method borrows from the double exposure film process where layers of images are assembled to form a single impression. Following up on her 2021 exhibition for CONTACT, her inspiration continues to be Toronto’s interiors and the smell of fresh ground coffee for that perfect cappuccino.
