Sabrine S. Hakam Power in Portraits

May 19–31,  2022

Power in Portraits uses the medium of portraiture to discuss issues of representation, identity, and power. By exploring different facets of BIPOC, post-colonial, and subaltern identities, universals and dichotomies can be challenged in order to recapture narratives of representation.

The work situates itself at the nexus of academia and art in order to transcend the limitations of academic jargon and methods, and to humanize the subjects of academic work.
