Saman Genshin has always associated a certain type of merit with finding beauty and culture in the streets. When Genshin was a child, their father said that wisdom was everywhere, and they grew up with the notion of America as that open-minded society where beauty and wisdom transcended social class and education. From comic books to Kerouac, it was the place of many worlds and visceral experiences.
Set in New York City, these gold-toned silver gelatin, handmade, analogue photographs push the properties of photographic materials to create the artist’s worlds of beauty and wisdom.
