The grain elevator: There’s much to admire about these giant sentinels peppered across the horizon; their architectural shape, the colours, the quality craftsmanship, and the grand scale of them rising from the flat prairie. They are the embodiment of prairie nostalgia.

Prairie Cathedral is an exhibition and book launch of a series of photographs documenting the last remaining elevators in the province of Alberta. Sandra Baron aims to capture these gentle giants in their various environs while telling the stories of a (mostly) bygone era from the elevator’s point of view. Sit up or sit back.
