Martha Ackroyd Curtis Rhapsody
May 1–14, 2023
The artist is pleased to present the Canadian premiere of Rhapsody, an enactment of kelp fields, through the void and traversing onto seascape; creating artistry out of the urbanized sphere and into the environment. The artist’s idea was to present a dialogue of language through performance of the natural form and a narrative of survival of the innate artistic in relation to the natural realm.
Shot on location in parts of Victoria, Australia, this work further develops ideas of performance within fashion and “wearable outfits” which work within the environmental surroundings, and responses to weather.
The exhibition (15-seconds on loop) is accompanied by an artist-produced podcast, available on Spotify and the artist’s website.
