Stéphane Alexis Deep Cs

Deep Cs combines two independent projects by Stéphane Alexis. The first, Chains & Crowns, explores afro hairstyles and their impact on culture from a socio-historical standpoint. As the lineage of these hairstyles is followed, we find opportunities to understand members of the culture from a technical standpoint, maintenance and styling, and the history of the people and persons.

The second, The Collection, deals with a group of symbolic objects that function as portals into the subconscious. These works utilize the same approach as surrealists like Salvador Dali and André Masson, to explore these concepts of healing through photograph and multichannel installations.
