Allison Morris, Alison Postma Blurring the Lines
May 1–Sep 2
Allison Morris and Alison Postma blur the lines between photography and sculpture by constructing scenes and then photographing them. Ideas around the body also inform both artists’ work.
Morris uses her own body as a subject, transforming herself into furniture to explore the duality of home. Home can provide a sense of comfort and security but can also be a place of subordination and anxiety.
Postma, who is also a furniture maker, seeks to recreate the bodily sensation of being in a dream. Taking inspiration from movie sets and camera tricks, Postma brings viewers into a familiar, yet fictional, space.
