Benjamin Rondel Human Nature

Apr 24–May 5

Human Nature is a series of photographs that address several pervasive themes in Rondel’s work relating to space, human activity, and the results of the interaction, with a focus on the imprint we leave behind on the land.

The artist’s images hold up a metaphorical mirror to the impact we have on the natural landscape, revealing the consequences of our intervention.

Rondel is interested in highlighting human desire to assert dominance and manipulate surroundings. Often, he arrives at a scene and captures evidence of past interventions. Sometimes, he affects the change himself.
