In Dockeray’s photography series #rip, she explores the notion of using humour as a means of coming to terms with the death of a loved one. Through images of her grandfather taken shortly before he died in September of 2020, this intimate and playful collection approaches Kate’s grandfather’s inevitable death, a prospect that scared them both, the best way they knew how: through comedy.
Curated by Caitlin Cronenberg, this series is, at its core, a letter from a grieving granddaughter to her grandfather that illustrates their relationship, the childish enthusiasm he brought to everything, and the love they shared.
