Obscura is a photo-based series based on found accidental art; an ephemeral tableau of broken windows on a ferry boat, patched with duct tape and plywood. These humble transformations, artfully enlighten in unexpected ways. Layering compositions of light, line, form, material, and process, tick off all the boxes of conventional abstract formalism. The tension between surface and depth, positive and negative spaces, invite meaningful aesthetic contemplation on impermanence, disruption, materiality, and perception. Repurposing what is arguably non-art, to question how context reshapes our understanding of what relates as art, in its intention, form, function, meaning, and impact.
