The Misunderstanding Memory project began as Caley Taylor unpacked her memories and examined them for accuracy. Memories are hazy, subjective constructs. Every time a memory is conjured, it is saved in one’s brain slightly differently. Most memories cannot be fully trusted and can cause neurosis, unless one does the hard, personal growth of searching their minds and asking, “Is this memory true?”

But, a film photograph can speak the truth and serve as concrete documentation. Taylor’s photographs frame moments and invite the viewer to take a risk and examine their own unique memories sparked by her images.
