Victoria Laube Off The Wall

Reception
-

Visual communication in public spaces, as pictures, symbols or print, relays the pulse of a city. Sometimes serious, sometimes satirical, at times messy and almost always colourful, it frequently blurs the line between art and vandalism. By its mere presence graffiti influences mainstream culture and reflects urban life. At the same time it can raise important social issues. Whether spur of the moment, enigmatic messages or well thought out presentations, all are temporary, and exposed to degradation and change. The images on view here, from the street and off the wall, present an opportunity to consider alternative points of view.
